The 2012 Tulsa Gridiron

2012 Cast

The Mock-u-py Tulsa” cast demonstrates how not to react when a strong earthquake rumbles across the town.

Who’s Who In Gridiron

This is Bob Ball‘s fourth stab at Gridiron. Maybe this one will take. Otherwise it’s back to the Chamber working as an economist. Yikes!

Ed Bettinger likes his gin neat, his steaks rare and women well done. A writer, backpacker, beer connoisseur, raconteur and all-round bon vivant, Ed authored the classic backcountry cocktail guide, “Drinker’s Guide to Hiking in Grand Canyon,” which he previously published as “Hiker’s Guide to Drinking in Grand Canyon.”

After inventing the internet, Don Burdick is currently working on converting sea water to oil. A tax-cutting, government-shrinking, pro-life liberal, finding a creative home with the Gridiron writer’s cult seemed like the perfect hobby…if he only had any talent. We report, you decide.

This is Caitlin Cash‘s first year in Tulsa Gridiron. To share her excitement, here’s a poem: roses are red, violets are blue… That’s all.

Carson Cash returns to the Gridiron cast for a second year.  Look out because he might capture you with his Bieberlicious charm!

Darell Christopher and his wife Françoise are the proprietors of the historic Kennedy Mansion Bed & Breakfast and Special Events Facility. Darell is a graduate of Holland Hall, The University of Tulsa, and Leadership Tulsa, and holds a Master of Theology degree from Phillips Theological Seminary.

Lisa Cole is a newcomer to the Tulsa theatre community whose recent endeavors include the Nightingale Theatre’s “Blue Whale of Catoosa” and Tulsa Project Theatre’s “Seussical.”

Jerry L. Cornelius appeared in his first Gridiron 50 years ago this year when it was held at the Hotel Tulsa. He is a commercial photographer, author and lectures on Tulsa history and WWII military history.

John Cory is a long-time Gridiron performer and writer, as well as a member of the Gridiron Trust. John works for the Tulsa Area United Way and helps the good agencies it serves with the challenges of technology.

Kelly Boggs Cory is an English instructor at TCC and for the YWCA.  She sometimes even speaks it; much to the pleasure of the audience, she does not sing it — in public at least.  She has been a member of the cast and writing team for many years.

Jane Lyon Duenner has been singing since at least sixth grade at Lee School when she entered a talent contest and lip-synced “I Want to Hold Your Hand” with Lynn Edwards.  She now sings in two Choirs: Trinity Episcopal and Sisters in Song. She also sings solo with her guitar on occasion.

Weydan Flax is a Gridiron newcomer. Being newly married and always doing what his wife suggests…he gladly joined the Gridiron Gang. He is glad he is getting to put those HS Choir classes and Marine Corp drill songs to good use.

This is Dave Garcia’s third Gridiron.  Credits include Herr Schultz in TCC’s “Cabaret,” Don John in Theatre Pops’ “Much Ado About Nothing,” Mr. Katz in Theatre Tulsa’s “Hot’l Baltimore,” as well as numerous roles in American Theatre Company’s “A Christmas Carol.”

A former Gridiron author, Eva-Marie Gooden previously wrote for the Gridiron. Although she provided past Gridiron material, currently she does not write for the Gridiron.

Paul Henry has been appearing on stage in Tulsa since 1995.  This is his first Gridiron.

Bruce Howard is the radio voice of University of Tulsa athletics. But his real goal is to someday own and operate a combination assisted living facility and umpire school. He became a Gridiron writer when he was told there was free food. His biggest regret is ordering one of those Direct TV miniature giraffes. He’s still waiting.

Fourth generation Tulsan Sharon King Davis has participated in the Gridiron twice before and is always excited about this clever production. The scholarships created from the funds raised is a great benefit to up and coming journalists….and if we can keep them in Tulsa, that’s even better!

When asked how she felt about performing in her third Gridiron, Crystal Kline, the Mistress of Spin and winner of the 2001 Tulsa Oktoberfest Yodeling Contest, said, “Winning!”

Jarrod Kopp has been working in PR and marketing communications throughout Tulsa for nearly 20 years. He likes to think he’s a comedy writer, but he’s mostly a smartass who can spell.

Lenzy Krehbiel-Burton spends her days herding reporters, her evenings herding the Gridiron cast and her nights chasing a toddler. Sleep and sanity are optional

Randy Krehbiel has a gravy stain that looks exactly like Elsa Lanchester.

2NEWS Problem Solver (and occasional Problem Causer) Michelle Lowry has 22 years broadcast journalism experience and 44 years Ginja Ninja experience.

Liz Masters is an award-winning actress and singer who has enjoyed slumming with the Gridiron folks for several years now.

Technical director Tim Moore is in his 39th year with the show. He has worked many productions at the PAC and the Tulsa Convention Center as well as two movies, “The Outsiders” and “Rumble Fish.”

DJ Morrow Ingram is performing in her 18th consecutive Gridiron. Besides being a talented singer and actor, she would really, REALLY like to find a job. Really.

Claudette Rogers returns to Gridiron after a long hiatus. It appears she has us on the same cycle as when she is re-remodeling something at her home.

George Romero is a Tulsa native who has been an actor, director, and writer in area arts programs for close to twenty years. During the day, she is the Arts and Activities Coordinator for Youth Services of Tulsa. She currently serves on the Heller Theatre Council, Tulsa Pride Committee, and TYPros Diversity Crew.

Angela Smith-Flax is a mild mannered technical recruiter for BlueCross BlueShield and a personal job/career coach by day, but after 5 p.m. she can be found exercising at a local pilates facility, or enjoying a glass of wine with her husband and friends. She is doing her part to support the Tulsa economy one pair of shoes at a time!

Tara Tumey has been involved in theater for more than 20 years as a makeup and costume artist. She holds a master instructor licenses in cosmetology and theatrical makeup, and has worked here and abroad, including at the Spoleto Festival and many more venues. This is her first Gridiron.

Director Rebecca Ungerman, known to cast and crew as She Who Must Be Obeyed, is a popular Tulsa songstress, entertainment maven and international polo star.
